Cook Discount Drugs - keeping traditions alive

As the 2023 season comes to an end and 2024 begins, local businesses are gearing up for the new year by taking down Christmas decorations. The 2023 Christmas Decorating Contest’s business category was won by two different locations with judges loving the night look of the City of Graceville’s Walking Track and the Cook Discount Drugs’ nativity display during the day. The nativity scene found at the local drugstore has been a staple of the downtown area for several years during the Christmas season and a favorite of families.

Cook Discount Drugs was opened in 1977 by pharmacists Ronnie Cook and Don Taylor. Since then, it has been owned and operated in its current location by the Taylor family (Don, Debbie, Brian, and Kevin). Current staff members include Kevin Taylor, Brittney Gammons, Madison Faison, Kim Pate, Annie Dotson, Anne Canada, and Bailey Cooper. Current pharmacist, Kevin Taylor, attributes the success of the pharmacy to excellent customer service. He and the staff enjoy building long term relationships with the customers. He explains that the better you can get to know your customers, the better you anticipate and meet their needs.

The staff always go above and beyond when decorating for Christmas. Having the store decorated puts the staff and customers in the Christmas spirit which makes this time of the year that much more special, says Taylor. “We want everyone to feel festive and welcome when they walk in or drive by the store”, he continued. Taylor credits his mother, Debbie Taylor, with the idea to display the manger scene with Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus. Mrs. Taylor has always stressed the importance of remembering the true reason for the season, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

In addition to prescription services, Cook Discount Drugs offers gift items such as Simply Southern and Girlie Girl shirts, Swan Creek candles, and Simply Southern tumblers, totes, and accessories. Cook Discount Drugs is open 8am-5pm Monday through Friday and 8am-12:30pm Saturday. They even offer delivery service if a customer can't make it in.
