Dynomite Boxing teaches self-defense and confidence

Pedro Martinez started fighting at a very young age as a victim of bullying from kindergarten to second grade while attending school in Lakeland, FL. Mr. Martinez explained how he struggled as a “mixed kid back then.” During a time when blended cultures and families were not common and thus not as socially acceptable as it is today. With his nose to the grindstone, Pedro Martinez stood his ground and built a reputation for being able to hold his own. It was then he realize that perhaps he “had a gift” and his interest shifted from survival to boxing.
Pedro Martinez started formally competing as a boxer at the age of 19 years old and continues to compete today at the age of 56. Looking back, Martinez’s proudest moment in boxing was a match he traveled to a gym in Georgia to compete in some years ago. Martinez won the fight by way of knockout in the first thirty seconds of the first round. A rare occurrence in any sparring sport, speaking to his ability to reach peak physical condition to compete at a high level in the sport of boxing.
Martinez has a facility located on Brown Street in Graceville called Dynomite Boxing, where he conditions and trains anyone ages 15 and up in boxing. His training sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:00 PM every week, for a low cost of only $100 a month. Martinez also opens the Dynomite Boxing facility to his athletes every Saturday at 9:00 AM, at no additional cost. With plans in the works, Martinez hopes to host a sparring event closer to the end of the year to showcase the skills of his student athletes. “God must have sent them... they don’t make youngsters like this anymore,” Martinez said, excited for the level of competition to come.
At Dynomite Boxing, Pedro Martinez is joined by four other professional trainers from Panama City that assists in the training program. Among them, Martinez mentioned Tim Seabrook, “whose fights never last more than two or three rounds.” Along with the 2006 Global Boxing Union’s middleweight world title belt winner, the reputable Laura “Lady Ram” Ramsey. Both of which are prominent figures in the boxing community.
