Hunter Nolen announces candidacy for Jackson County Schools Superintendent

Hunter Nolen DRIVEN TO PROVIDE THE BEST EDUCATION FOR ALL STUDENTS!!!

My name is Hunter Nolen, I am 46 years old, and I want to be the next Superintendent of Schools for Jackson County. Education is in my blood as I come from a long line of educators. I am a graduate of Marianna High School, Chipola College, Troy State University, and the University of West Florida. My wife Jennifer Nolen, former 1st grade teacher and now guidance counselor, started her teaching career at Cottondale Elementary. She has worked at Riverside Elementary, Cottondale Elementary, Golson Elementary, and now at Marianna K-8. I can still remember going to her classroom on weekends helping her cut out things to decorate her room. We have 1 son, Press Nolen, and he will be going into 9th grade at Marianna High School. Along with keeping up with his schoolwork, he participates in many school activities such as BETA, FFA, Football, Soccer, and Baseball. We love him dearly and he keeps us pretty busy. My dad currently teaches at Jackson County Schools at Sunland and has worked for Chipola College, Chipley Voc. Tech, and Grand Ridge School. My mother just recently retired from teaching as she was in education for 50 years as an outstanding 1st/2nd grade teacher. My sister also teaches 1st grade at MK-8 and has been doing an excellent job for the past 18 years. Both sets of my grandparents were educators in Alabama for many years with my granddad completing his years in education as Superintendent.

I am an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Marianna and have been for the last 35 years. I am a member of the Optimist Club of Jackson County and serve on the Board at the M.E.R.E. as well as coach many youth sports. As for my educational career, I have worked at Golson Elementary, Marianna Middle School, Marianna High School, Jackson County District Office, Jackson County School District Transportation Department, and currently have the privilege of being the principal at Sneads High School (Go Pirates!!!). With over 21 years of valuable experiences around this great school district, all of which have been in Jackson County (paraprofessional, teacher, bus driver, coach, principal, director), I bring a wealth of knowledge that I know will lead Jackson County School District where it belongs…to the top! I will have an open-door policy and will work extremely hard to provide the best educational experience for ALL students. I have played a part in helping 3 schools in Jackson County achieve/maintain “A” status (1 school was the first in the history of the school district) and currently working on school number 4. I consider my leadership style to be that of a Servant Leader. I like to lead from the front. My job as Superintendent is to support the students, teachers, staff, admin., and parents every single day at the schools; we have forgotten that in this district and I am going to bring this leadership back to Jackson County. Nobody will outwork me. Period! We need to bring back the passion to this school district and show everyone else why Jackson County is the best place to work and receive an education. Join me as we will build a brighter future for the students, parents, staff, and community of Jackson County. I humbly ask for your vote and support for the Superintendent of Jackson County Schools on August 20th, 2024.
