Friday, August 11 marked the beginning launch of “Food Truck Fridays” hosted by P & P Heating and Cooling, Inc. in Esto. Upon inquiry from The Graceville News on the motivation of this venture, P & P Heating and Cooling, Inc.’s marketing specialist Shawna Powell stated, “Esto is a small town in rural Holmes County. While we are blessed with several thriving businesses, we unfortunately do not have any restaurants or grocery stores. This makes mealtimes, especially during the lunch work hour, challenging.”
Owner Danny Powell loved the idea when it was brought to his attention after another employee suggested having food trucks visit the establishment to combat the issue. Following “some thought, discussion, and a little planning, Food Truck Fridays were created,” said Shawna Powell. However, P & P Heating and Cooling, Inc. has more than just the lunch needs of their employees in mind with this new initiative.
Shawna Powell stated, “We hope that Food Truck Fridays will not only make our employees happier, but also bring warm cooked food options to our community while helping small business owners who own and operate the trucks.” Powell is “optimistic that this will gain popularity” and contribute to the local community. Additionally, Shawna Powell also mentioned that it is their goal to bring “a wide variety of food trucks” to visit the establishment each Friday.
On August 11, Scoops was the first lunch to be hosted in this event. During the interview, employees raved about the quality of food Scoops served, that included a “variety of delicious desserts and specialty sandwiches.” On Friday, August 18, Tin Pig is scheduled to be the second food truck for this weekly event. Tin Pig serves a notable selection of hotdogs and barbeque. On the following Friday, August 25, Quik Eats will be serving some of the best comfort foods including nachos, pulled pork, and hotdogs. On September 1, SayIt Hotdogs and More will serve up its own variety of hotdogs and fries to the Esto community. Shawna Powell went on to mention an “outstanding Cuban food truck and everyone’s favorite Italian food truck” is scheduled in September and October, bringing even more delicious options for everyone to enjoy to this event.
So far, their schedule is booked up through Friday, September 1. The food trucks are scheduled to be on site from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM every Friday for lunch. They will be stationed at P & P Heating and Cooling, Inc. in Esto. The company is hopeful that this initiative will generate enough business to “continue throughout the future on each Friday… in front of their shop located at 1075 North Highway 79, Esto, FL 32425.” These food trucks are open to the public, and P & P Heating and Cooling encourages “everyone who is able to come show their support.”
Shawna Powell is working to spread the word to all in an effort to make this event a long-standing success. For any food truck owners who are interested in taking part in this profitable event, email Shawna Powell at spowell.pandp@gmail.com. You can also reach Mrs. Powell via messenger at the company’s Facebook page. Shawna Powell notes that she “would be honored to get them on the schedule.”
