Plans to open new DG Market in Early Fall, current store will remain open

The Dollar General Corporation is currently under construction on a new DG Market location at 5462 Brown Street in Graceville, Florida. Located across the street from Gary’s Grill and Freeway, the new building was erected in a quick pace with construction starting this summer and already almost at completion. Reaching out to the DG Corporation, The Graceville News learned that the store is currently planned to open “early fall 2023” with the company’s public relations representative noting, “but understand that construction progress may alter this date.”

Public relations also noted, “Dollar General's DG Market format offers expanded produce, refrigerated and frozen food offerings, dairy products and more, in addition to an assortment of fresh meats, alongside the general merchandise customers trust Dollar General to provide.” The store also plans to employ “approximately 6-10 employees, depending on the individual needs of the store. When asked if the Dollar General in Graceville that is currently open and located on 951 Prim Avenue will remain open, PR for the company noted, “Dollar General’s Graceville, FL location at 951 Prim Avenue currently plans to remain open to continue serving Jackson County customers.” The company also wrote, “Our customers are at the center of all that we do, and meeting their needs is our top priority when choosing store locations. In selecting store sites, we take a number of factors into consideration, carefully evaluating each potential new store location to ensure we can continue to meet our customers’ price, value and selection needs. We believe the addition of each new store provides positive economic benefits including additional access to affordable products for customers; the creation of new jobs for local residents and career development opportunities for our employees; the generation of additional tax revenue for the City; and the ability for local nonprofits, schools and libraries to apply for literacy and education grants through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.”

The company finished, “We currently offer produce in nearly 3,900 stores and plan to have produce in 5,000 stores by January 2024, giving the Company more individual points of produce distribution than any other U.S. mass retailer or grocer. We also have a commitment to offer the assortment in more than 10,000 total stores in the coming years with a meaning number in USDA-defined food deserts.”
