This is only the second time in history of the Rex Lumber has hit the 1,000 Day milestone, with both times being at the Graceville Mill. This huge accomplishment shows dedication, organization, and love for this company in all areas of the business.

Rex Lumber’s owner Caroline Dauzat took a moment to talk about this accomplishment and what exactly 1,000 Days of No Lost Time means. She started explaining, “Our mill did not have any incidents that required an employee to be away from work to recover from an injury over the last 1,000 days (or over two and half plus years).” She continued, “This milestone is tremendous for us! It shows the dedication that our employees and management have to Safety. The number on the board isn’t just a number for us or anyone in our community. Ask anyone, they will tell you!”

When asked how the Mill was able to achieve this milestone she answered, “The achievement of this feat was attained by the commitment to Safety at all levels of the Rex Lumber organization. From the owners, executive staff through the entry levels, Rex employees demonstrated, on a consistent basis, that Safety is a Core Value. Our safety values are established by the owners and executive team. Our management sets safety expectations and supports safety initiatives. Management education, training and everyone in the organization modeling those expectations leads our hourly employees to be a core participant in Rex Lumber’s Safety Program.”

To celebrate the 1000th Day on Monday, April 29, employees were treated with mini cupcakes and large bag chairs marking the achievement. The company also planned a celebration for its employees on May 10 at the Graceville Civic Center. According to Dauzat, the celebration had all employees come together for a meal accompanied by a fun-filled night of giving away prizes. She also wanted to give gratitude to the local community adding, “The give-a-way prizes were donated by members of the Graceville Community and our vendors. We are so thankful for the support for our company and employees!”

Dauzat finished speaking on hitting the 1,000 Day mark stating, “Reaching this milestone feels amazing! So proud of our employees for making this happen! It would not have been possible without every Rex Employee staying safe every day!” She ended, “Without our employees dedication to Safety, we would have never reached this milestone, our goal is to keep it going to 2,000 days!”

From supporting workers during the hottest days of the year to always putting the safety of an employee first, Rex Lumber has not only accomplished 1,000 Day of No Time Lost but is a model to other businesses on how to appreciate and care for its employees.
