The Chipley Hellfighters Motorcycle Christian Ministry hosted its 14th anniversary celebration at its June Fellowship Dinner on Thursday, June 17 at the Chipley Hellfighters’ Clubhouse. The wonderful event started with several of its members leading those in attendance to singing some to the group’s favorite hymns including “Amazing Grace” and “I Want To Know More About My Lord”.

After the music, Chipley unit President Richard Burke spoke to the group about the importance of hymns and the beautiful words found in “Amazing Grace”. He continued speaking, “If you don’t know Jesus, now is the time, not tomorrow, not later this evening, but now.” He continued, “The older I get the more I realize how precious His blood was.” He finished encouraging all that may be lost or confused to speak to any of the Hellfighter Ministry members stating, “Any one of them can tell you about Jesus Christ and lead you to the salvation through Him.” He finished reminding all, “We can’t save you. Attending the Hellfighters, won’t save you. Going to church 365 days a year won’t save you only the blood of Jesus Christ can.”
Bengie Short was then introduced to the group. Short is a member of the Hell- fighters ministry and is at the organization’s main chapter in Laurel, Mississippi. He’s been at the Hellfighter’s mis- sion for 5 years and started, “As Christians faith, luck, chance, coincidence is not a part of our vocabulary. It doesn’t fit, it doesn’t work. It seems that God directed my path so that I found myself at Laurel Mississippi at a mission… Mission at the Cross.”
A graduate of the mission, Short spoke about how the mission has been able to assist over 1,600 men. He added, “The success rate is 100 percent through the Lord Jesus Christ, but only through the Lord Jesus Christ. There is a strength in numbers…and we’re in the business of helping people, but there is a man I know, and you call on Him and He’s there and His name is Jesus.” He spoke briefly of the amazing men and leaders of the Hellfighters that have left to be with the Lord.
Short continued, “The mission is a wonderful thing… it’s a wonderful place for men… we welcome all.” He then explained how the Mission works stating that men come into the Mission, lost, broke, and nowhere else to turn. The Mission works with the men in a year- long program to help them become successful, contributing members to society with God leading their way. The Mission also has a motor- cycle shop and dealership where individuals learn skills and how to maintain a job. However, the main thing the Mission focuses on is honoring and connecting men with Jesus Christ and His salvation. While they want to help foster productive citizens, their main mis- sion is letting the Lord use them to bring souls closer to Christ. He finished, “I’ve seen some wonderful miracles and God in so many moments.”
