Graceville Arts League Holds Annual Recognition Dinner

The Graceville Arts League (GAL) held its annual Awards Night Program on Thursday, August 3 at Graceville’s Los Amigos. Dr. Buford Cox opened the program informing the group that GAL provides several grants for those pursuing various endeavors related to art. Which includes an application process that is required to qualify to receive a grant from the Graceville Art League. The Graceville Art League was happy to award grants to further the cause of the arts in our community and enhance the cultural environment of Graceville and the surrounding area.

Baptist College of Florida’s Professor Richard Davenport with presented with the first grant. Professor Davenport is the new instrumental teacher at BCF and was extremely grateful for the grant. Poplar Spring High School’s Art Teacher Ashley Tindall was also presented with the next grant. Mrs. Tindall joined the educational staff at Poplar Springs in January and commented that she has truly enjoyed being a part of the local community and is grateful for the needed supplies the grant would help afford.

The final grant was a first for the Arts League, with Dr. Buford Cox noting that Graceville School’s Pre-K teacher Jeannie Barefield applied for the grant for her pre- class. Noting that the Arts League was excited to see funds help bring art to students of all ages. Mrs. Barefield was presented with the third grant to further the Graceville School Pre-K class’s young artistic endeavors.
