Three Graceville Seniors Lead Graceville Baseball in 2024

Graceville High School celebrated its senior baseball players last month with a special pre-game ceremony. The team will lose three seniors this year as Keshawn Daniels, Chipper Holland, and Mekhi Lawrence graduate this May. Here is a little about the three seniors.

Keshawn Daniels is the son of Jirah Daniels. He plays Center Field for the Tigers and is in his fifth year of playing the sport. His favorite thing about baseball is that it’s an easy-going sport and being able to compete. His favorite thing about being a Tiger is that “everybody is just loving. We’re a small tight community.” His future plans include continuing his education by receiving a degree in Sport Medicine or a doctorate. He finished, “All though we haven’t got the results we wanted, it’s still been a fun and great season.”

George “Chipper” Holland is the son of Chip Holland and Mary Grace Jowers. Chipper plays second base as well as outfield and has played baseball for three years. His favorite this about baseball is just having fun with his teammates and his favorite thing about being a Graceville Tiger is the community that surrounds the school and students. Chipper’s future plans include becoming a lineman and he finished adding, “Go Tigers!’

Mekhi Lawrence is the son of Tarik Olds and Talita Olds. Mekhi plays left field and has also pitched. His favorite thing about baseball is throwing the ball across the field and he started playing baseball as a child in city league t-ball and has enjoyed playing it in high school. His favorite thing about being a tiger is “the sense of belonging we have here” and the interesting conversations that are had. His future plans include continuing his education at Chipola College or University of Florida. He finished, “To whoever is reading this, I want you to know to have a nice day and always give your parents a hug before you go to sleep.”
